About Joseph Pilates Method

Joseph H. Pilates believed that physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness. This happiness could be experienced by attaining and maintaining a uniformly developed body with a sound mind. He believed that this physical fitness could be gained through the daily performance of exercises he created called Contrology. Your private class will run 60 minutes.

Pilates is complete coordination of the body, mind and spirit. It corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit. It reawakens dormant muscle cells which re-awaken dormant brain cells, activating new areas and stimulating the mind. It is mastery of the mind over complete control of the body.

In Pilates, the spine is the focus and of the utmost importance. It is the test of a person’s true age. If the spine is stiff at 30, you are old. If it’s flexible at 60, you are young. Additionally, Pilates drives pure, fresh blood to every muscle fiber, like a heavy rainstorm freshens the water of a sluggish stream. These exercises purify the bloodstream. Pilates provides the trinity: balanced body, mind and spirit…a sane mind in a sound body.

‘Does the sun ask itself, am I good? Am I worthwhile? Is there enough of me? No, it burns and it shines.

Does the sun ask itself, what does the moon think of me? How does Mars feel about me today? No, it burns and it shines.

Does the sun ask itself, am I as big as other suns in other galaxies? No, it burns and it shines.’
